Detailed Description
Specifications

The flag of Tibet, also known as the Snow Lion flag, was introduced by the 13th Dalai Lama using the design motif of Japanese military flags - a rising sun surrounded by sun-rays as the background.

Exactly when the flag was introduced is unknown. It was used as the Tibetan army flag in Tibet at least until 1959. Later, it became a symbol of the Tibetan independence movement.

The snow capped mountain in the centre symbolise the great nation of Tibet. Six red rays of light emanating in the sky symbolise the six original Tibetan tribes and blue the sky. Alternating, they outline a virtuous effort to guard and protect the spiritual and secular life as enacted by the two protector-deities, one red and one black. The light rays beaming from the rising sun over a snow peaked mountain symbolise the lights of freedom, spirituality, material happiness and prosperity.

Two fearless glowing snow lions represent the complete victory over mankind both spiritually and secularly. Three-coloured jewels above symbolise Tibetan's continual reverence of the three Precious Gems. Two coloured jewels of bliss held by two snow lions represent one’s self morality in accordance with the exalted traditions upon which ten divine virtuous actions and sixteen human moral rules arise. The adornment of a yellow border marks the advancement of the Buddha's teachings which like pure gold are limitless in both direction and time.

Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
