Earth Flag

The Earth Flag was designed by John McConnell in preparation for the first Earth Day in San Francisco which was held in March 1970 to commemorate a day of World Peace.& Senator Gaylord Nelson was planning to hold an environmental summit in San Francisco in April of that year, and invited McConnell to coincide his Earth Day celebrations with the summit. However, it was felt that March 20th, the Vernal Equinox was the more appropriate Earth Day. It was Margaret Mead an activist with the United Nations Earth Society Foundation who made the flag grow in prominence.  She adopted the Earth Flag and carried it with her everywhere she went. After Ms. Mead's death in 1978, Ed Brennan, who was the president of the Earth Society Foundation, designed the Earth Flag we use today. In 1995, Brennan an independent businessman, attempted unsuccessfully to build a commercial market for the flag. Today it is flown at environmental fairs and events to commemorate Earth Day and other earthly causes.

Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
