Detailed Description
Specifications

The Korean national flag is called Taegukki. The South Korean National flag is best explained through the oriental philosophy or theory of Um-Yang, known which is known in Chinese as Yin-Yang. Yin means the opposite of Yang, which allows conflicting pressures and objectives to offset each other with the result being harmony. Yin - Yang is believed to originate from the Korean philosophy of Samshin meaning three gods.

“Taeguk” is the harmonious state of movement called yin and yang and “ki” is Korean for flag. Centered in the flag is a circle with a red swirl being yang and the lower blue swirl being yin. They are in a state of harmony. The four corner symbols, called Kwae, represent the principle of movement and harmony. Each Kwae consists of three bars, which are either broken indicating yin or unbroken indicating yang.  Four basic Kwae are used on the flag each symbolizing a different state of movement. These are Kun (heaven), Yi (fire), Kam (water), and Kon (earth). Each symbol expresses how they interact within the universe and how the universe itself moves in peace and harmony. The white background stands for the peace and purity of the Korean people.

A more simplistic perspective would see the white as symbolic of the nation, the circle as its people, and the four Kwae as government.  All three make up the essential elements of the nation for Ying to be in harmony with Yang.

Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
