The Republic of Guatemala flag features two colours: sky blue and white. The two sky blue stripes represent Guatemala’s position between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and the sky above. The white colour symbolises peace and purity.
The basic blue and white stripe pattern is inspired by the national flag of the Federal Republic of Central America, a horizontal design which itself was borrowed from the design of the Argentine flag. The Central American flag flew in Guatemala until 1851, when pro-Spanish sympathisers ceased control and adopted Spanish colours of red and yellow. The original colours were restored on August 17, 1871, as vertical stripes and with a new coat of arms.
Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
