The flag of the Côte d'Ivoire is an orange white and green tri-colour flag who’s designed was based on the French Tricolore. It was adopted in 1959 just prior to official independence from France. Often confused with the flag of the Irish Republic or Eire, it is shorter and the colours are reversed. Orange is in the hoist while green is in the fly.
Following independence, the Côte d'Ivoire formed an alliance with its fellow newly independent West African neighbours many who had adopted the Pan-African colours. La Côte d'Ivoire borrowed the colours used by Niger who was part of the Alliance. Orange was chosen to represent the savannah, hot yet fertile. Green is the southern forests and the national sense of hope. White was the peaceful existance between them.
Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
