The flag of Burkina Faso is formed by two equal horizontal bands of red (top) and green, with a yellow five-pointed star resting in the center. It was adopted on August 4, 1984 following 1983 coup d'etat led by Thomas Sankara.
Like its neighbours, it uses the Pan-African colours of Ethiopia. Red boldly stands for the country's revolutionary struggle and green its hope and abundance. The yellow star symbolises Burkina Faso's rich mineral wealth. The flag replaces the former Upper Volta flag adopted upon independence from France.
Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
