The current flag of the State of Eritrea was adopted on December 5, 1995, is based on the design and colours of its ruling political organization, the Eritrean People's Liberation Front. Only the yellow star is missing from EPLF flag.
The prominant feature on the flag is a red triangle extending from the hoist to the fly with complementary green and blue triangles above and below. In the red triangle a yellow olive wreath with 14 leaves on each side is centred. It is the only symbol surviving from the 1952 flag adopted upon independence and replaces the yellow star of the EPLF flag. Green stands for agriculture and national fertility. Blue stands for the ocean and red for the blood lost in the fight for freedom.
Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
