The flag of the Republic of Rwanda is composed of three colours: green, yellow and blue. Green symbolizes the hope of prosperity earned by the wise use of Rwandan human and natural resources. Yellow commemorates economic development and the returns from hard work. Blue symbolizes happiness and peace and the nation's struggle to remain in peaceful prosperity. The sun and its rays of gold are the knowledge enlightening the people against ignorance.

The new flag was designed by Alphonse Kirimobenecyo, a Rwandan artist and engineer. It was adopted by Parlaiment on June 10, 1991 and raised for the first time on December 31, 2001..

Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
