The flag of the Union of Comoros consists of four equal horizontal bands of yellow (top), white, red, and blue, with a green isosceles triangle based on the hoist. Centered within the triangle is a white crescent with the convex side facing the hoist and four white, five-pointed stars placed vertically in a line between the points of the crescent. Mahore also known as Mayotte is actually a territorial collectivity of France. Comoros claims the island as its own. Nzwani also known as Anjouan is home to growning separatist sentiment recently requested to rejoin France but was turned down following intervention from the Comoros government and military.
