The flag of Niue was adopted in 1975. It consists of a British Style Ensign but rather than the traditional Red White or Blue, the field is yellow. Another peculiarity of the flag is that it is not defaced in the field. Instead, in the canton is a defaced Union Flag consisting oF a larger star in the middle of the Union Flag and four stars forming a diamond around it.
Yellow is said to represent the "warmth and friendship between Niue and New Zealand". The Southern star design on the Canton also symbolises the relationship as a former territory of New Zealand in its new status of Free Association.
Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
