Japan Naval Ensign
SKU: JNE35P

The Japanese Naval Ensign is a well known variation of the Japanese flag. It is a sun disc similar to the Japanese national flag with 16 red rays reaching to the ends of the flag. Historically, it was used by Japan's military, particularly the navy. The Naval Ensign was first adopted on October 7, 1889 to identify Japanese seafaring vessels and was used until the end of World War II. At the wars end, the flag was mothballed where it remained until June 30th, 1954 when it was re-adopted as Japan's naval ensign.

This particular variant of the Japanese Navel Ensign is considered offensive by some, particularly in Asia, where it has a strong association with Japan's role in World War II. This has been assisted in the west by Hollywood's portrayal of the ensign in numerous documentaries and movies of the war era

Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
