Uzbekistan Flag - Republic of
SKU: UZB35P

The State flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted by the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on November 18, 1991. It is both a symbol of modern day Uzbekistan and also a historical link to the nations past. The flag proudly marks the various cultural, historical and national traditions, which came together within its boundaries to form one nation and one flag.

Blue symbolizes the eternal sky and life-giving water, which are the essence of life. It represents goodness, wisdom, honesty, glory and loyalty. It is also the colour of the region’s conqueror Amir Temur and his dynasty.

White symbolizes Holy Peace signaling the end of Holy War and the Crusades. It harmonizes with the illumination of the day and the sources of light within the universe. It is purity, transparency, innocence, the strife for inner beauty and the cleanliness of desires and dreams.

Green is the renewal of nature. As in other nations, it is considered to be a symbol of youth, hope and joy.

The red stripes are the tributaries or veins of the power of life flowing within the Uzbek people.

A youthful crescent moon depicts both the Uzbek people’s historic traditions and their hard-earned independence.

The 12 stars depicted on the flag connect the Uzbek people and their historic traditions to the ancient calendar-cycle of the sun. They also explain astronomy in the development of scientific thought by ancient settlers who once lived in what is now Uzbekistan. The stars are also a symbol of the antiquity of the culture of the Uzbek people, their maturity and their strive for happiness at home.
