The flag of the Krgyz Republic was adopted on March 3, 1992. It consists of a red field with a yellow sun in the center having 40 rays representing the 40 Kyrgyz tribal groups. They are also believed to represent 40 warriors of the mythical hero Manas. On one side of the flag the rays run counterclockwise, on the reverse, clockwise. Centered in the sun is a red ring crossed by two sets of three lines symbolising the crown or tunduk of a traditional Kyrgyz yurt, which is a commonly seen element of Kyrgyz architecture. The red field symbolises the peace and openness of Kyrgyzstan. Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
