Macao Flag - Special Administrative Region SKU: MAC35P
Prior to returning control of Macao to the People’s Republic of China in 1999, the flag of Portugal flew over the territory. The government of Macao did fly on special occasion a government flag consisting of a light blue field with the 1935 Coat of Arms. This flag was not often seen. The Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge links Macao to the island Taipa. It is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the SAR. The water symbolises Macao’s important position as a port.
