Armenia Flag - Republic of SKU: ARM35P
The national flag of Armenia is a tri-colour consisting of three horizontal bands red (top), blue and orange each of equal width. The Armenian Supreme Council adopted the current flag on August 24, 1990 and was incorporated into law by the Armenian Parliament on June 15, 2006. Throughout history, there were many variations of the Armenian flag. In ancient times, Armenian dynasties placed different symbolic animals on their flags. In the twentieth century, various Soviet flags represented the Armenian nation.
The colours on the Armenian flag have been defined using several competing legends. Amongst the people, red is believed to stand for the bloodshed by the Armenian soldier in war, blue for the Armenian sky, and orange for the fertile lands of Armenia and the workers who work them. The Republic of Armenia constitution defines the colours as follows: Red symbolizes the Armenian Highland, the Armenian people's continued struggle for survival, maintenance of the Christian faith, Armenia's independence and freedom. Blue symbolizes the will of the people of Armenia to live beneath peaceful skies. Orange symbolizes the creative talent and hard-working nature of the people of Armenia.
