Russian Imperial Flag
SKU: RUI35P

The House of Romanov was the second and last Imperial dynasty of Russia. It ruled for five generations from 1613 to 1761 ending with the marriage of a Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna to the Duke of Holstein-Gottorp a member of the Houses of Oldenburg. The result of this marriage was the creation of the House of Holstein-Gottorp-Romanov, which would rule autocratically until March 1917. The Holstein-Gottorps of Russia, however, kept the surname Romanov to emphasize their female-line descent from Peter the Great. The dynasty would end with the execution of Czar Nicholas II and his immediate family by the Bolsheviks in the name of Socialist revolution under Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.

The Russian Imperial flag consists of a yellow field with the Lesser State Emblem of The Russian Empire in its centre. The Emblem consists of a golden escutcheon with a black two-headed eagle crowned with two Imperial Crowns, over which a third crown of similar design, enlarged, with two flying ends of the ribbon of the Order of Saint Andrew. The State Eagle holds a golden scepter and golden globus cruciger. On the chest of the Eagle there is an escutcheon with the arms of Moscow, depicting Saint George, mounted and defeating the Serpent. In addition, the collar of the Order of Saint Andrew is placed around the escutcheon of St. George, and the Arms of Astrakhan, Siberia, Georgia, Finland, Kiev-Vladimir-Novgorod, Taurica, Poland and Kazan are displayed on the wings in a clockwise order.

Flag Measures 36 in x 60 in and is 100% polyester with grommets for easy flying.
