SKU: ZMB35P

Zambia was first colonised by the British South African Company in 1889. In 1924, the company ceded administrative control to the British Crown forming the colony of Northern Rhodesia. From 1953 to 1963, the colony became the northern part of the Central African Federation an apartied style regime which enjoyed no support among the black population. Independence from Britain was attained in 1964.

The flag of Zambia was adopted on October 24th, 1964. The red on the flag symbolizes the former colony's struggle for freedom, the black for the people of Zambia, and the orange for natural resources and mineral wealth. The eagle which comes from the national coat of arms represents the people's ability to rise above the nation's problems.
